The lounge area is texturally layered using hard and soft, warm and cool tones, to create a functional yet comfortable space. The warmth of the fire contrasted with the concrete finished floors and fireplace surround. A warm cream shag rug creates levity with the charcoal colored sectional and candy apple read egg chair. The floating glass table on a concrete pedestal creates function without encroaching on the space.

We utilized the ample space in front of this Mid Century Modern home to create a fire pit lounge area. It marries beautifully with the living space of the home, as a long sliding glass door opens up to incorporate the indoor-outdoor living concept. Large sunburst outdoor scones provide a functional glow, yet illuminate an artistic design to the area. A landscaped lounge space surrounding an in-ground fire pit completes this cozy, warm feeling of this design.

The outdoor living area provide a picture perfect perch to view the mountains soaring to the west while warming yourself with the two linear fire pits flanking the perimeter of the spa. We added the spa to soar over the pool area to feel adjacent with the pool but not encumbered by it. The glow of the fire juxtaposed by the cool illuminated water provides a fire and water display that will make desert living a year round event.

The minimalism of a kitchen shows its functionality without compromising on design aesthetics. We utilized smart space planning to allow cooking, cleaning and preparation in unison. The stainless steel appliances are warmed up by the Wenge cabinets in a warm brown hue, and a cream colored quartz counter tops with a light aggregate texture.

The fireplace has movement with the concrete trough finished facade enlivens this monolithic structure. The contrast between the concrete finish and smooth textured painted wall creates this interplay of warm and cool tones that marries with the flames. The upper wall allows for a vivid piece of art or a flat screen television to fill the void.

The guest bathroom challenged us to create space without adding space. We created a partition wall of glass that slides using barn yard hardware to allow for unencumbered access to the walk in shower. A cool white wall tile in the shower creates a spa like feel, which complements beautifully with the textured laminate wood cabinets. The transparency created by finishes and simple design techniques make this space appears larger than the footprint allows. Happy showering.

This galley style space did not deter us from creating a meaningful shower and bathroom experience. We created a glass enclosed shower to act as a functional barrier to water without creating a monolithic obstruction to the space. The skylight adds additional light which is aided by the clean white smooth textured walls. The warm cabinet finish and the movement and warmly toned concrete porcelain floors stop this space from feeling sterile.
