The focus of the kitchen is the green apple quartz countertops. Our clients wanted that to be the focus, so we made the cabinet finish netural in a white gloss to play off the sheen of the counters but not upstage it. The pendants are tear drop shaped in glass with a smoky texture to be supporting players in this design.

This Mid Century Modern Ranch style home received a top-down renovation, keeping in tune with the style of the homes in the area, topography and classic architectural details synonymous with desert modernism. Muted tones, desert landscaping and minimalist design create a modern structure respectful of its roots.

The open concept plan allows for co-mingling of living, dining and kitchen areas. The expansive space is compartmentalized by distinct decorative elements, like light fixtures that ground the dining room, a fire place that creates a congregation space, and the green apple island counter top that delineates the beginning of the chef’s kitchen. The terrazzo tile flooring marries all the spaces together and brings a touch of mid century modern design, complementing the post and beam ceiling retained from the original home.

The living room or lounge space is a congregation area grounded by a colorful, patterned area rug and gray colored, low profile sofas and sectional piece, highlighted by a club chair patterned with stripes of limes and greens to plays with the green apple counter top material in the kitchen.

The master bedroom addition takes advantage of the gorgeous views of the St. Jacinto Mountains with a tall sliding wall of glass that pockets to expose the outdoor living area. Very neutral furniture plays with the topography of the region as well as the desert landscaping. The bedroom opens up to the master bathroom, unimpeded by any doors.

The bathroom is transparent and open, allowing for ample to filter in and unencumbered access to the master bedroom. The jewel of the bathroom is a dual shower area, encased in glass to feel like you are showering au natural. The bathroom is incorporated in the entirety of the master suite by not having the walls go fully to the ceiling, allowing for light diffusion and air circulation.

This outdoor living space is a beautiful marriage of the desert lifestyle and Mid Century Modern inspiration. The post and beam architecture is in line with the original incarnation of the home. The new spa has a pleasant circular shape, that contrasting the minimalist lines of the home. The muted colors are taken for the desert surrounding to meld with the environment. It is truly a desert paradise.
